Curbside Glass Recycling Company Up For Grant

Local company, KC Curbside Glass, is up for consideration in the Mission Main Street Grants program through Chase. The curbside glass recycling company is hoping to be one of twenty small businesses through out the country to receive a $100,000 grant to help with the company’s short-term and long-term expansion plans.
“We have great plans for expanding our curbside glass recycling service to more areas of eastern Kansas as well as western Missouri and this generous grant from Chase would be a huge boost to those plans,” said KC Curbside Glass owner Hunt Magee.
Mr. Magee has seen his business grow from the back of his car to a recent purchase of another truck that can hold over 5,000 pounds of glass.
“Buying large equipment for a small business can be an exciting yet terrifying experience. But once I got over the terror and started using the new truck the excitement quickly took over,” Magee explained.

KC Curbside Glass has been in business for a little over two years and there is a great story behind how they got started.
“I began just offering to take my neighbors’ glass to be recycled at a location where you had to dump it yourself. Before I knew it I had about 60 homes in my neighborhood that wanted me to do this for them,” Magee exclaimed.
“I soon realized I’d better start up a business and charge a small fee before I go broke doing all of this for my neighbors.”
KC Curbside Glass now has over 1,000 curbside glass recycling customers and is looking to expand to even more areas.
“I guess you could say we’ve come a long way from the back of my car in a couple of years,” Magee laughed.
